When we are comparing two objects we use the adjactive with the ending -ER or the prefix more and then we use the word than, but when we want to talk about one object that stand out we use the prefix most with the word the, or the ending -EST.
The words more or most are only used when the adjective has three or more syllables, in the other cases we only use er or est.
